Golf
Royal County Down maybe among the top 10 Golf Courses in the world, having hosted the Walker Cup in 2007. This is only the tip of the iceburg… championship courses at Ardglass and Kilkeel are 30 minutes drive away. Warrenpoint and Spa offer great parkland courses and then an hour away around the outskirts of Belfast are the marvellous courses of Malone, Belvoir Park and Royal Belfast. Royal Portrush is a two hour drive away. Spoiled for choice Cobbler’s Yard is at the heart of golfing paradise. |
Walking
Dundrum is a typical Irish coastal village which grew up around a small harbour and decades of trading by useof the railway. Today modern trade means the village has developed into a bustling holiday village taking advantage of all the amenities of the surrounding area. The nearby (4 miles) Mountains of Mourne are a magnet for walkers from all over the world. Unique for the easy access to wild and remote walks the mournes offer trails to every level of walker.
Murlough Nature Reserve :A fifteen minute walk from Cobbler’s Yard is the National Trust’s reserve at Murlough. An area of special scientific interest the reserve includes acres of heathland populated by a myriad of plant and wild life. There are walks which take you through the dune system to the miles of golden beaches stretching to Newcastle and the Mountains of Mournes |
